Project: 3d Forest Fly-Over (Blender)

3d fly-overs are sometimes refered to as the holy grail of 3d due to the large number of polygons required and the physical limits of the rendering technology. I recently finished the Nature Academy tutorials, which focused on creating realistic nature scenes in the open-source Blender 3d suite.

The scene consists of generated terrain using various plugins, with 100,000+ particles consisting of bill-boarded trees, rocks, shrubs and other nature library assets. Some compositing has also been added to simulate atmospheric falloff over distance.
