The Nature Academy is a 3d modelling, animation and compositing course utilising the open source Blender 3d suite. This scene is the result of one of my favourite tutorials, the close-up nature scene.
To achieve the end result, I combined a series of objects attached using particles to base geometry objects in the scene taking advantage of existing flora libraries. I also used external software components, such as the IvyGen simulator, to achieve realistic ‘growth’ within the scene.
Add all this to a great deal of compositing -including a some original compositing I used to simulate the drop-off of the light rays over distance and a seperate render layer to enhance light bloom – and I achieved what I believe to be a very aesthetic and appealing image.
