Project: 3d Ocean Render (Blender)

Client: personal project

Another one of the Nature Academy tutorials. This used a branch of the Blender open-source 3d suite containing the Ocean Simulator tools. While this sounds deceptively simple, in reality it involved a large degree of testing, creating materials and significant post-production/compositing.

I’ve also made this into an animation. To illustrate just how much geometry was involved, this scene took several days to render on a quad-core i7 2.7GHz machine with 8GB of RAM.
